Coastal Karnataka districts as well as Western Ghat regions have been experiencing hazy atmosphere since Monday morning.

While people initially thought it to be clouds that could bring rain, their belief did not turn out to be true and dusty layers continued to envelop the regions. The dusty atmosphere was particularly visible during mornings and evenings even as the Sun has lost his sheen since two days.

Though some suspected the source of dust from the thermal power plant in Udupi district, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board officials, upon visiting the plant near Padubidri, ruled out the chances. The officials are yet to come out with the actual cause for the haze.

Meanwhile, buildings, vehicles and trees in the region continue to be coated with thin layers of fine dust on account of the haze.
