Halady has betrayed voters, says Malli

Rakesh Malli, President of the State unit of Indian National Trade Union Congress, said on Saturday that the former MLA from Kundapur, Halady Srinivas Shetty, had betrayed the people of Kundapur Assembly constituency by resigning as the legislator a few days back and then rejoining.

Speaking to presspersons here, Mr. Malli said in the 2013 Assembly polls, Mr. Shetty contested as an Independent candidate from Kundapur Assembly constituency and told the voters that the BJP had betrayed him by denying a ministerial berth. He had campaigned on this issue alone and won from the seat. Now just a couple of months before the next Assembly election, Mr. Shetty had taken an about turn and rejoined the BJP, which he had blamed.

Asked if he (Mr. Malli) was aspiring for a ticket from the Kundapur Assembly constituency from the Congress, Mr. Malli said that giving the ticket was the prerogative of the party.
