Guest lecturers to resume duty from today

After three days of protest nearly 1,100 guest lecturers will resume teaching in various government degree colleges under Mangalore University from Thursday.

The teachers had joined nearly 10,500 teachers, in the State, who had gone on strike in Bangalore until their demands of higher pay and payment of backlog was met.

After assurances by political representatives that a solution will be chalked out within a week, the protestors decided to suspend their strike, said Nagaraj M., President of the Mangalore division of the Karnataka State Government Degree Colleges Guest Lecturers’ Association.
