Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated here on Wednesday.

Lakshmivara Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Shiroor Math inaugurated the celebrations by lighting a lamp at Rajangana.

The main attraction of the day was the ‘Muddu Krishna' competition held at Rajangana.

Over 200 children dressed as Balakrishna participated in this competition.

‘Huli Vesha' artistes walked around the city and entertained the people with their rigorous performances.

Various religious rituals in connection the janmashtami were held in the Sri Krishna Math/Temple which was the centre of attraction.

Bhajans were sung in the temple. Cultural programmes were also held at Rajangana. A large number of people visited the temple.
