Gram panchayats' meet in December

The Gram Panchayat Hakkotaya Andolan will organise “Gram Swarajya Samavesha”, a State-level conference of gram panchayats, here from December 9 to 11.

President of the organising committee Deviprasad Shetty told presspersons here on Saturday that the main aim of the conference was to discuss the means of strengthening the gram panchayats.

The conference would have seminars focussing on various aspects of gram panchayats and the panchayat raj system. Experts, including former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, veteran politician A.G. Kodgi, C. Narayana Swami, Devaki Jain, Mahima Patel, Vimala Ramachandran, retired IAS officer Chiranjeev Singh, T.R. Raghunandan, former ministers P.G.R. Sindhia, Mumtaz Ali Khan, and panchayat raj activist Wilfred D'Souza would participate as resource persons, he said.
