Secretary in-charge of Udupi district Ramesh B. Zalki on Saturday directed the officials to give importance to “Namma Mane” project under the Ashraya scheme in urban areas. He was speaking at a district-level review meeting of developmental works at the Deputy Commissioner's office here.
Mr. Zalki said that 57 applications in Udupi city, 26 in Karkala and 16 in Saligrama had been received under the “Namma Mane” scheme. Officials should immediately convene a meeting to select beneficiaries under the scheme.
Photographs
The meeting was told that it was necessary to take photographs of the 2,31,578 families in the district for providing computerised ration cards.
Till February-end, the photographs of 2,19,919 families had been taken.
Funds
Officials in the meeting sought additional funds of Rs. 7.65 crore for the construction of District Offices Complex in Manipal, Rs. 95 lakh for indoor stadium in Udupi and Rs. 14 lakh for the Yatri Nivas in Karkala.
Action
Mr. Zalki said that he would take up the matter with the concerned departments in Bangalore and try to get the funds released at the earliest.
District Health and Family Welfare Officer Ramachandra Bairy said that the posts of medical officers in 33 Primary Health Centres in rural areas were vacant. Mr. Zalki directed the Social Welfare Department to provide solar lights in all hostels run by it and scholarships to eligible students, immediately.
Caste certificates
Deputy Commissioner P. Hemalatha directed the officials to ensure that caste certificates were provided through Nemmadi Kendras within 10 days of receiving applications. Mr. Zalki would henceforth be holding review meetings once in a month, she said.
Drinking water
Executive Engineer of Zilla Panchayat Sridharmurthy said that Rs. 50 lakh was required immediately for tackling drinking water problem.
Additional Deputy Commissioner T.M. Prabhakar, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat D. Pranesh Rao and Assistant Commissioner K.N. Ramesh were present.
