The Cultural India organisation, in association with the Kalkura Foundation and Sri Krishna Math, will be distributing ‘Gitadyuti', a book of shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita and their meanings, at Rajangana here on Saturday.
President of the foundation Pradeep Kumar Kalkura told presspersons here on Friday that the book would have questions at the end of every chapter.
The aim was to make the students aware of the contents and importance of the Gita. The book would be distributed to about 400 students, he said.
Gitadyuti centres were started in designated schools in 12 districts of the State last year and in the remaining districts this year. Nearly 12,000 students from 300 schools were presently under the Gitadyuti scheme, he said.
The district centres would later conduct State-level ‘Gitadyuti' competitions. Students could answer the oral or written questions in Kannada or English in this competition.
Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Math will inaugurate the book release function.
Home Minister V.S. Acharya will release the book titled ‘Gitadyuti'. MLA Raghupati Bhat and journalist Sandhya Pai will be the chief guests.
Managing Director of the Cultural India organisation Dileep Belve, Dewan of Shiroor Math Latavya Acharya and Principal of SMSP Sanskrit College H.K. Sureshacharya were present.
