Gahan tops chess tournament

Gahan M. G. of Mangalore emerged champion in a two-day Mangalore Chess Academy and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Inter-district Chess Tournament which concluded here on Sunday.

Mr. Gahan scored eight points out of eight rounds.

The tournament was conducted under the auspices of South Kanara District Chess Association, Mangalore.

Anantharam R.U. of Mangalore, who scored 6.5 points; and Sharan Rao of Mangalore, who scored six points, were declared first and second runners up, respectively. The prize distribution ceremony was held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan here on Sunday.
