Young and seasoned artists from coastal Karnataka and Kerala have come together to showcase their works at Prasad Art Gallery on M.G. Road here. The four-day exhibition began on Saturday.

The exhibition features 60 works of as many artists who took part in a two-day camp at Payyanur in Kerala recently. Though each artist produced two works in the camp, the best 60 have been selected for this exhibition, senior artist P.S. Punchithaya, an office-bearer of Vishwakala Art Gallery, Payyanur, told presspersons here.

Mangalore’s senior artist Ganesh Somayaji, who is among those organising the show, said the exhibition would help local talents to understand and appreciate the works and develop a new perspective. Mr. Punchithaya said the Payyanur camp had provided a rare opportunity for artists from here to showcase their works in Kerala. Efforts would be made to send select paintings to the Central Lalit Kala Akademi for its exhibition, he added.

Among the artists from here whose works have been selected for this show include Mr. Somayaji, Mr. Punchithaya, Syedl Asif Ali, Rajendra Kedige, Kandan G., and Sharath Holla, and Venugopal from Udupi. Artists from Kerala whose works are being featured are Pramod Adthila, P.S. Karunakar, M.C. Srijith, and K.K.R. Vengara, among others.
