Follow Valmiki's ideals in life, says Yogish Bhat

The Dakshina Kannada district administration and the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat celebrated Valmiki Jayanti at the panchayat's auditorium on Tuesday.

Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly N. Yogish Bhat said it was necessary for everyone to adopt in a few of the ideals of Valmiki . “This will be the proper way of celebrating this great writer's birth centenary,” he said.

J. Krishna Palemar, Minister for Ports and Environment and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge, said the life of Valmiki was an example of what a person from backward community could achieve in society. He expressed the need to teach children the ideals laid down in the epic Ramayana written by Valmiki.

Mangalore MLA U.T. Khader also spoke. Deputy Mayor Geetha N. Nayak, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat vice-president Dhanalakshmi Janardhan, Chairman of Coastal Development Authority B. Nagaraj Shetty, Deputy Commissioner N.S. Channappa Gowda, ZP chief executive officer K.N. Vijay Prakash and MCC commissioner K. Harish Kumar were present.
