The National Institute of Technology, Karnataka (NITK), will be conducting “E-Pitch”, an entrepreneurship event during “Engineer 2011”, the institute's annual technical symposium.
E-Pitch is aimed at creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs so that they grow their business ideas and nurture them with expert guidance and mentorship. It aims at providing a head start to student entrepreneurs. The finalists will bag a direct entry to Next Big Idea (www.nextbigidea.in), a business plan contest organised by the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B), and to participate in international contests such as the UC Berkeley Global Entrepreneurship Challenge.
The event is a national-level business plan competition held in partnership with the N.S. Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL) of the IIM-B. It is sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), said Ketan, Co-ordinator for E-Pitch, Engineer 2011.
Any college student can participate in E-Pitch by submitting a summary of his or her business plan to e-pitch@engineer.org.in by September 30, Mr. Ketan said. The last edition of E-Pitch received over 125 entries with the winners being offered incubation for their businesses at NSRCEL, IIM-B. The winner of E-Pitch 2010 received a seed fund of Rs.10 lakh to implement his business proposal.
