Education Expo at TMA Pai Convention Centre

A large number of students, especially those who had written II Pre University examinations, turned up on Day One of the two-day education expo at the TMA Pai International Convention Centre here on Saturday.

Stalls showcased the new courses in medicine and engineering , integrated courses for law and MBA, and loans provided by banks.

“I want to pursue mechanical engineering. I am here to weigh the various options, combinations and moreover the cost of the course,” said Aman Kumaran, from Canara PU College.

A representative from NITTE University spoke to students about the new courses in the field of paramedical science . One among the courses, was the six-year long Pharm.D course introduced by the Pharmacy Council of India. The Pharm.D is a professional pharmacy doctoral programme after II PUC or 10+2 in the science stream that includes five years of study and one year of internship or residency. Apart from NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, four colleges in Mangalore and Udupi offer this course.

Most of the stalls represent local engineering, medical and law institutes. The stall of CMS Business School of Jain University, Bangalore highlights their two-year MBA course that will provide degrees from institutes in UK and France. The Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management from Bhatkal is the other institute from outside the district, to have a stall.

The exhibitors didn’t just provide information about courses. At the stall of the Centre for Advanced Learning, Severine Rosario explained to students the importance of competitive examinations like the JEE (Mains) and the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, which would help students get affordable and quality higher education at the IITs, the NITs and the Indian Institute of Science.
