DYFI stages takes out protest march

August 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 10:10 am IST - MANGALURU:

Activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) took out a protest march from Padil-Bajal to the office of the Mangaluru City Corporation on Monday urging the civic body to address issues relating to the railway underpass near Mangaluru Junction Railway Station.

Addressing the protesters in front of the corporation, Muneer Katipalla, State president, Democratic Youth Federation of India, said that the underpass has been built in unscientific way.

Water gets clogged under it in the rainy season as there is no plan with the corporation to divert a storm-water drain abutting it.

The connecting roads to Veeranagar and Faisalnagar have been closed now. The corporation should complete the road linking works at the earliest. The activists threatened that the Democratic Youth Federation of India would intensify the agitation if these issues are not addressed soon.
