Duff singing contest

An inter-State floodlight duff singing and playing competition will be held on the Government High School premises at Kukkaje in Bantwal Taluk on April 21 at 9 p.m., said a release.

This will be organised by the Duff Association of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi and Friends Association of Kukkaje. A “souhardotsava” will also be held.

In all, 13 duff trainers from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi will be felicitated at 7 p.m. The former Minister B. Janardhana Poojary, MLAs U.T. Khader, B. Ramanatha Rai, and Abhayachandra Jain, and MP Jayaprakash Hegde will be the guests.

The release said that 28 troupes have registered for the competition. Each troupe would be given Rs. 1,000 as honorarium.

The best performing troupes would be given mementoes and 15 members from each troupe would get individual prizes.

In addition, there prizes for best and second best singers would be given. Each troupe would be allowed to sing up to 11 minutes, the release said.
