Dozens injured as buses collide near Puttur

As many as 42 persons were injured when two buses collided near Kabaka on Puttur-Mangalore State highway on Saturday afternoon.

Though most escaped with minor injuries, one of the passengers is in the risk of losing his leg, said Puttur traffic police.

Around 3.30 p.m., a private bus heading for Mangalore its bid to overtake another vehicle crashed into a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus moving in the opposite direction, the police said.

The injured have been taken to hospitals in Puttur and Mangalore.

Mithun, the driver of the private bus who was also injured, has been booked.
