College and school students who wish to renew their city bus pass can just download the form from the newly-launched website of the Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners Association (DKBOA). Until now, people wanting to renew had to visit the association office, located on the first floor of a building in Hampankatta twice – once to pick up the form and the second time to return it filled up. Dilraj Alva, Treasurer of DKBOA, said that the association recently launched a new websi called www.mangalorecitybus.com, where the form was available for download. Students can now take the printout, fill it up and visit the association office once to submit the completed form.
He said the website also provides an avenue to those who want to send suggestions or to record complaints under a tab called “Feedback”. Some issues can be resolved between the commuter and the bus owner so instead of going directly to the Regional Transport Office (RTO), commuters can record their complaints on the website. He said, “We will make it (complaints) public.”
The website will keep commuters updated with various information related to the buses. Nelson Pereira, President, Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators’ Association, said, “We will keep the website updated with the latest in the bus system, like any change in bus routes.” However, the website is not fully updated as of now. All the routes are not listed in the “Bus Routes” page of the website. For example the route No. 15 series are not listed.
