Girls of Cascia High School have often heard tips necessary to guard themselves against sexual harassment in schools, buses and public areas. But that message was reinforced on Saturday in the form of skits.

Seventy students of St. Agnes College descended on the school, one of 15 venues, to generate awareness about security of women and children.

It was part of the “Agnes Towards Community” initiative of the college conducted in association with the Child Line and Dakshina Kannada Child Protection Unit.

Final-year students from Arts, Science and Commerce streams came with three skits in Kannada and one in English.

The skits were written by students. Tapasya wrote the Kannada skits and Lucia wrote the English skit.

The audience paid close attention to the skits. One highlighted how cell phone numbers of girls and their photographs posted on social networking sites were being misused. Another skit showed the various ways in which girls were denied education. The last skit focused on harassment of girls by male teachers in classrooms.
