Deepak Rao murder case: Two more held

The special team of Mangaluru city police, investigating the murder of Deepak Rao on January 3, have arrested two more persons on charges of aiding the crime.

The arrested are Abdul Aziz, 42, resident of Katipalla 2nd block, and Abdul Azim, 34, resident of Krishnapura 6th block.

Panambur Police Inspector Rafiq and staff as well as Central Crime Branch Police Inspector Shantharam and staff were instrumental in nabbing the accused, the police said.

The police have already arrested Mohammed Naushad, Mohammed Irshan, Mohammed Nawaz and Rizwan.

More arrests in Bashir murder case

The city police have arrested two more persons in connection with the murder of Ahmed Bashir on January 3.

The arrested are Lateesh, 24, and Pushparaj, 23, both from neighbouring Kasaragod district in Kerala.

The police have already arrested Shreejith, Kishan Poojary, his brother Dhanush Poojary, and Sandesh Kotian.

Bashir, 47, who operated a fast-food joint in Kottara Chowki, was attacked in retaliation to the murder of Deepak Rao in Katipalla in Mangaluru taluk. Mohammed Muddasir, 22, was also attacked on January 3 night in Surathkal.

During questioning of the four arrested, the police learnt about the involvement of Lateesh and Pushparaj. Following a tip off, the Central Crime Branch police arrested them on Sunday.
