Dakshina Kannada district finishes third in Sakaala implementation

Apart from ensuring speedy delivery of services, the Sakaala Scheme has also created an environment of competition among districts and department to be recognised as the best service provider, said Shalini Rajneesh, Secretary to Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) and mission director of Sakaala.

Speaking to presspersons after a scheme review meeting here on Wednesday, Ms. Rajneesh said for December, Dakshina Kannada stood third in the State, after Ramnagaram and Uttara Kannada. She said that while the rate of delay in the services in the district was only 0.3 per cent, only six complaints had been recorded so far from the district.

“Under Sakaala, the works of the department are quantified. And hence, good performers are recognised, and they will be awarded,” she said. On January 26, the top three performers at district level would be awarded by the Deputy Commissioner, while performers at the State level would be awarded by the Governor, she said.

Ms. Rajneesh said all services rendered under the Scheme would go online by March end. Service centres at the gram panchayat level for citizens to file Sakaala services from the village and integration of Sakaala for smartphones were in the pipeline, she said.

As many as 1.5 crore people had availed 265 services, from whom 1.59 crore applications had been received while 1.56 crore applications had been disposed of, said Ms. Rajneesh. The toll-free call centre (080-44554455) had received over 1.56 lakh calls, she added.
