Withdrawing water rationing in the city, Mangaluru City Corporation on Wednesday resumed daily water supply, according to Mayor Kavita Sanil. Addressing presspersons here, the Mayor said that the water level at the Thumbe vented dam supplying drinking water to the city is expected to reach the maximum level of 5 m on Thursday morning. The level stood at 4.22 m on Wednesday.

She said that the water level at the vented dam of AMR Hydro Power Project Ltd. at Shambhoor on the upstream of Thumbe stood at 4.49 m against the maximum level of 6.25 m on Wednesday.

Water storage in both the dams would be enough for daily supply beyond May-end. Hence, the civic body would not deprive the people of the city daily water. In case if it did not rain beyond May, the corporation would re-consider its decision and might revert to rationing again till it rained and inflow picked up in the Netravathi.

The Mayor thanked the people of the city for cooperating with the civic body during the rationing period.
