As many as 16 tableaux will participate in the procession
As many as 16 tableaux and 15 cultural troupes will participate in the Paryaya procession here on Wednesday.
Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Convener of Paryaya Reception Committee Ratna Kumar said the tableaux participating in the Paryaya procession are “Bhasmasura Mohini”, “Samudra Manthana”, “Chanura Mardhana”, “Kalinga Mardhana”, “Krishna Leele”, “Purusha Mruga”, “Bhuvaraha”, 'Dashavatara', “Huli Vesha”, ‘Nagavalli', “Pancha Vrindavana”, “Hanumadvilasa”, “Brahmarambika Vilasa”, “Sri Vadiraja” and “Sri Bhootaraja”. In addition, there would be a LED lighting display and Sri Madhwa Vadiraja College model in the procession.
The cultural troupes, which would participate in the procession are: ‘Chande', ‘Mahila Chande', Nasik Band, ‘Kombu' ‘Nadaswara', ‘Talimu', “Keelu Kudre”, “Gombe Kunita”, ‘Navilu', “Karaga Nritya”, “Pu Kavadi”, “Marakalu Huli”, “Puthani Nritya”, “Kangilu Nritya”, ‘Panchavadya', saxophone team, coloured umbrellas, big band set, and eight teams of ‘Nadaswara'.
In addition, there would be a laser show near Jodu Katte, the starting point of the Paryaya procession. The Paryaya Durbar at Rajangana had been styled on the Mysore palace. Final touches were being given to the decoration works of the Paryaya Durbar.
The new Paryaya seer – Vishwavallabha Tirtha Swami of Sode Vadiraja Math would have a holy dip at a pond at Danda Tirtha, about 12 kilometres from Udupi, at 3.30 a.m. on January 18. The Paryaya procession would start from Jodu Katte at 4 a.m. The “Paryaya Peetharohana” (ascension to the “Paryaya Peetha”) of the Sode seer would take place at 6.20 a.m. The Paryaya Durbar function would begin at Rajangana at 7 a.m.
Seating arrangements have been made for over 5,000 people at Rajangana Durbar function. As many as nine persons will be felicitated at the Paryaya Durbar for their contributions to various fields. They are P. Sripati Rao (medicine), Katte Vadiraja Acharya (philosophy), retired Supreme Court judge B.N. Srikrishna (jurisprudence), Ganjeefa Raghupati Bhat (art), Kumble Sundar Rao (Yakshagana), Sudha Murthy (social service), Mohan Alva (education) and Sandhya S. Pai (literature).
Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Higher Education Minister V.S. Acharya, Primary and Higher Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister Krishna Palemar, AICC General Secretary Oscar Fernandes will participate in the Paryaya Durbar.
A civic felicitation to the outgoing Paryaya seer – Lakshmivara Tirtha Swami of Shiroor Math will be held at the Car Street here at 8 p.m. on January 17.This will be followed by a fireworks display in the open space near the Rajangana parking lot.
