Corporation Bank to redeploy armed guards at ATMs

November 20, 2013 12:59 am | Updated May 26, 2016 08:56 am IST - MANGALORE:

Corporation Bank will redeploy guards at all ATMs within 10 days following the crime that took place in one of its ATMs in Bangalore on Wednesday, said a spokesperson for the bank.

He said, “The process has already begun. Within 10 days is the outer limit. Guards will be placed at all ATMs.”

Guards were withdrawn from the bank’s ATMs five years ago due to “various reasons”. But after the Bangalore incident, the bank will restore guards at ATMs. On the question of there being no guard at the ATM where the crime took place, he said, “There are no armed guards, only ordinary security persons. Not even in the past. I don’t think they are armed except those within the bank. ATMs have normal security guards”.
