A complaint has been filed against Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Dakshina Pranta Pramukh Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat accusing him of making a speech hurting religious sentiments during the Virat Hindu Sangam held in Puttur on January 16.

In a complaint, Arshad, a Popular Front of India activist, has accused Mr. Bhat of speaking lightly about wearing burqas and other customs followed by Muslims.

He has also accused Mr. Bhat of defaming the Beary community. The Puttur Town police have registered the case.

People gathered to hold a demonstration called by the Popular Front of India seeking harmony in the district. The demonstration was held before the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

Addressing the gathering, Popular Front of India Dakshina Kannada unit president A.M. Attaullah sought action, including invoking the provisions of the Goonda (The Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug offenders, Gamblers, Goondas) Act against persons who are disturbing peace in the district.

Mr. Attalullah said people like Praveen Togadia, Jagadish Karanth and Pramod Mutalik should not be allowed to enter the district.
