Complaint against FB post about festival at Udupi mutt

A case has been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station against the derogatory remarks about the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple on the social media networking site, Facebook, here on Wednesday.

According to the police, the complainant, U. Yogish Bhat, an office-bearer of Hayagreeva Bhakta Vrinda Sode Mutt, had lodged a complaint stating that a person, whose name had been mentioned as Sampat Kumar Koteshwar in the Facebook post, had made derogatory remarks about a Hindu festival being celebrated twice in Udupi, on July 29.

When the Sri Krishna Mutt Bhakta Vrinda responded to it, Koteshwar used abusive language against them in the Facebook post.

His followers on the Facebook, whose names have been mentioned as Aishu Bhat, Aishwarya Bhat and L.K. Rao, too had made derogatory remarks about the Krishna Mutt on July 29 and July 30, and had hurt the religious sentiments of the followers, the complainant said. Based on the complaint, a case had been registered, the police said.
