Colleges told to honour statutes

August 16, 2010 05:17 pm | Updated 05:17 pm IST - MANGALORE:

Mangalore University Teachers' Association (MUTA) has urged the various colleges to honour statutes and regulations of the university.

In a release issued on the background of two autonomous colleges under the university staging a protest, including its teachers and students, against the university here recently, MUTA president T.P.M. Pakkala said: “The teachers of Mangalore University are of the opinion that the statutes and regulations of the university are framed by academic experts in the interest of higher education and the student community.''

The recent developments related to a few autonomous colleges had created confusion in the minds of students. Just because of a few institutions that were not following the statutes of the university, the interest of the student community should not be hampered.

Therefore, in the larger interest of student community, the MUTA wishes to emphasise that statutes and regulations of the university should be honoured.
