Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary has sought the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as the latter has failed to take steps to address drought situation.
“Wake up from the slumber and tender resignation,” he said and asked Mr. Siddaramaiah to take note that BJP National president Amit Shah is in the State to unseat him.
“Wherever Mr. Shah has toured, the ruling party’s Chief Minister has been unseated,” Mr. Poojary told presspersons here on Saturday.
Mr. Poojary said despite severity of the drought, Mr. Siddaramaiah has so far not found time to tour of the affected regions of the State.
Mr. Siddaramaiah, he said, should pave way for a Dalit leader or D.K. Shivakumar to become the Chief Minister.
The party high command has a good opinion of Mr. Shivakumar, who has stood by the party during difficult times.
“Both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have appreciated Mr. Shivakumar,” he said and added that Mr. Shivakumar would become the CM in the coming days.
