CID takes custody of Umar Farooq

The Criminal Investigation Department has taken custody of advocate Umar Farooq, who was recently arrested in connection with an attempt to murder Harish Rai.

The Mangalore police had issued a look out notice against Umar Farooq, who was an accused in the attempt to murder advocate Harish Rai. Madoor Isubbu is the another accused who has been arrested.

This case was registered with the Mangalore North police in April 2010.

The immigration officials in the Bangalore International Airport handed him over to the Bangalore city police. The Bangalore City police handed him over to Mangalore police, who in turn referred it to the CID officials in April this year. The CID officials produced Umar Farooq before a Mangalore the jurisdictional court on Tuesday and sought for his custody for five days. The court permitted the CID to keep Farooq under their custody till Thursday.
