September 12, 2011 04:02 pm | Updated 04:02 pm IST - Udupi:

Chairman-designate of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Kasaragod Chinna has said that he will organise more Konkani literary and cultural programmes during his three-year tenure.

He was releasing the music CD of the Konkani feature film, “Ujwadu”, at a function organised by the GSB Yuvaka Mandali here.

Mr. Chinna said that he would organise more pro-Konkani programmes in Udupi district. The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy was a unique organisation as it transcended barriers of religion and caste. Mangalorean Catholic Christians, Muslim Navayath community, and various castes following Hindu religion spoke Konkani, making it a unique one. As Chairman, he would try to do justice to all the communities, he said. Mr. Chinna, who has also directed “Ujwadu”, said that the film was a symbol of his gratitude to the mother-tongue. This was the third Konkani film in GSB Konkani dialect.

Editor of Taranga Sandhya Pai released the music CD. Raghupati Bhat, MLA, and former president of the Udupi CMC Somashekhar Bhat were present.
