Che Guevara film to be screened tomorrow

Sahamatha Film Society and other organisations will conduct a programme to release the Kannada version of Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara’s biography ‘The Motor Cycle Dairies’ by writer H.S. Anupama on January 10 at 9 a.m. at Ravindra Kalabhavan. The Spanish film of the same name will also be screened on the day, followed by a discussion on the film.

The event is organised in association with Ladai Prakashana, Gadag; Sahitya Samudaya, Mangaluru, and Kannada Sangha of University College.

A release said film director and environmentalist Kesari Haravu will release the book. News Editor of Kannada daily Varthabharathi B.M. Basheer will speak on the book and Sunanda U., Principal of University College, will be the chief guest. The Spanish feature film will be screened at 10 a.m. with social activist Vani Periodi and others taking part in the discussion.

The release said the film that received a standing ovation at 2004 Sundance Film Festival is about the journey of self-discovery of a revolutionary and is based on two books including ‘The Motor Cycle Diaries’ by Ernesto Che Guevara.

The film, directed by Walter Salles, is about Alberto Granado and Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, who later came to be known as ‘El Che’ or Che Guevara.
