Chartered Accountants resources to be made online

October 28, 2013 12:03 pm | Updated 12:03 pm IST - MANGALORE:

The latest on Companies Act, the accounting standards, lectures and other material available at the various centres of Institute of Charted Accountants of India will be made available to people at large, according to ICAI’s Vice President K. Raghu.

Talking to reporters in Mangalore on Thursday, Mr. Raghu said the ICAI was designing a knowledge management portal that will make available all the knowledge resources. “Information about Companies Act, lectures, investor education talks and webcasts will be available. People can download any material they want from this portal.”

Mr. Raghu said the process was to collate resources from all the ICAI centres. “This portal can be accessed by any person, including the members and CA students,” he said. They are also coming up with an application for accessing the information using smart phones. The portal will be launched in another two months, he said.

The ICAI has raised with the Union Ministry for Corporate Affairs concerns expressed by CA over provision in the new Companies Act for rotation of chartered accounts after a period of three years. “We have asked the government to leave out small and medium practitioners while auditing listed companies,” he said.
