CET toppers await all-India results

IIT, AIIMS, JIPMER in many students’ crosshairs

Mangalore student Sumith, who secured 3 rank in engineering in the Common Entrance Test, has set his sights on Indian Institute of Technology.

Sumith’s mother Aruna said he was now in Mumbai for the selection to the International Chemistry Olympiad team at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education. She said he son was eyeing IIT and went for coaching at a city-based training centre. “This training is what helped him to score well in other examinations, including CET,” said Ms. Aruna. Mr. Sumith studied in Sharada Vidyalaya in Kodialbail in Mangalore.

Soorya V.K., who is ranked third in both medicine and Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISMH), said he was writing the entrance examinations for All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences and also for Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry, scheduled in June. “I am sure to get a seat in Bangalore Medical College or Mysore Medical College,” said Mr. Soorya, a native of Hassan, and student of Expert PU College in Mangalore.

Meanwhile, many of the city students among the top 50 in the Common Entrance Test in the engineering, medical, ISMH and architecture streams are awaiting the results of all-India examinations in medicine, engineering and architecture and then look at the colleges under the CET.

As many as 17 students from Expert PU College are among the top 50 in medicine, engineering, ISMH and architecture. Tanvi J. Kariya, who is ranked 8 in architecture, said she had set her sights both on engineering and architecture.
