Census: first phase to begin from April 15

The Union Government and the Directorate of Census, Karnataka, will be taking up the 2011 census work in two phases in Udupi district.

In a press release issued here, District Census Officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner T.M. Prabhakar said that the first phase of the census would be held from April 15 to 30.

Census officials will prepare a list of houses to be covered in this phase.

Census of both individuals and houses will be taken up from May 1 to 31 in the second phase.

Authorities have urged the people to cooperate with the officials when they visit the houses by providing proper information. Census numbers will be marked on the houses visited by the officials. People should ensure that these numbers do not get erased, the release said.
