Catholics hold silent protest against attack on CODP

Members of various Catholic organisations held a silent gathering in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday to protest against Sunday’s attack on the Canara Organisation for Development and Peace centre at Nathoor.

The protesters covered their mouths with black ribbons in a symbolic gesture aimed at convey a message that the “voice of minority communities is being stifled”.

Mentioning this in a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, the protesters expressed concern over the string of recent attacks against Catholic institutions in the State.

Roy Catelino, president of the Konkani Prachaar Sanchalan, led the protest.
