Home Minister K.J. George said on Tuesday that the State Cabinet would discuss the Justice B.K. Somasekhara Commission’s report on the attacks on churches, which took place in September and October 2008.

Responding to a query by presspersons here, Mr. George said that there were contradictions in the interim and final reports on the church attacks compiled by Justice B.K. Somasekhara. “We feel that changes might have been made in the final report under pressure. We will discuss the report in the Cabinet and then decide,” he said.

Meanwhile, the District Malekudiya Sangha urged the Home Minister to provide jobs to youth belonging to the Malekudiya tribal community living in the naxal-affected villages in the Western Ghats. The Malekudiya community is a Scheduled Tribe.

Demand

In a memorandum submitted to Mr. George here on Tuesday, the president of the Sangha Sridhar Gowda said that when Shankar Bidri was the Director General and Inspector General of Police, he had promised to provide government jobs to unemployed tribal youth. The previous government had also thought on these lines.

The sangha urged the government to take immediate action to provide employment to the Malekudiya youth as per their educational qualifications in various departments.

The government should undertake a special recruitment drive, the memorandum said.
