Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister, said on Saturday that the State government had formed a Cabinet sub-committee to look into implementation of the recommendations of the K. Kasturirangan panel report on the Western Ghats in the State. He was speaking after distributing various facilities to 192 beneficiaries at the Veerabhadra Hall at Kaup in Udupi district.
Mr. Sorake said that he would study the decision of the Cabinet sub-committee on the panel’s recommendations. The recommendations made in the panel report would be implemented without causing any trouble to the people in the district.
The State government had decided to fill the vacancies in the Revenue Department. The process of appointing the surveyors had been completed. After the completion of their training, the surveyors would be appointed to places where the posts were vacant.
The vacant posts of village accountants in the district would soon be filled. The cabinet had also decided to provide ‘kumki’ lands to farmers having title deeds.
Nearly 8,000 applications for land regularisation were pending in Udupi taluk. A committee to study these applications had been formed. As per the recommendations of the committee, title deeds would be given to those not having them. It had been decided to provide title deeds to 1,000 poor persons in Kaup Assembly Constituency.
He had urged the Union Petroleum Minister M. Veerappa Moily to provide funds for setting up a Trauma Care facility at the government Hospital in Kaup. A new ‘Nada Kacheri’ would be started in Hiriyadka. A 108 ambulance facility would be provided in Padubidri.
Laboratory facilities would be provided at the Primary Health Centre in Shirva. A PG Centre of Mangalore University would be set up in Belapu, Mr. Sorake said.
