Hundreds of students supporting the Campus Front of India (CFI) on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office here against the recent incident of an SSLC examination invigilator allegedly asking some students to remove their burka and the subsequent “illegal” arrest of those who questioned it.

They alleged that the Bunder police had registered false cases against CFI leaders for questioning the action of an invigilator at Ganapati High School here and arrested them along with the parents of a few girls, who were allegedly asked to remove the burka.

The protesters demanded dismissal of Bunder police station Circle Inspector Vinay Gaonkar for allegedly registering false cases against their leaders and sought action against the invigilator.

The leaders of the front demanded immediate release of the arrested leaders and threatened to intensify their agitation if the fascist forces continued to target them in the guise of protecting culture.
