Job fair tomorrow

Sri Venkataramana Swamy College, Bantwal, will organise a job fair at the college on Wednesday from 9 a.m. There is no registration fee and it is open to both undergraduate and post-graduate students, a release said.

Quiz winners

Mangaluru Metro Rotary Club and Shirva Rotary Club (Udupi district) came second and third, respectively, in the Rotary District 3180 annual quiz competition conducted here on Saturday. Misty Hill Rotary Club, Madikeri, bagged the first prize.

In all, eight clubs had participated in the finals. The Rotary District comprises revenue districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mysuru and Chamarajanagara.

Gold medallist

Glensia Ashma Pinto, a student of St. Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady, Udupi, has won the gold medal in a national shuttle badminton (rural category) tournament organised by Sports Authority of India at Indore recently.

She is a native of Farangipet, Bantwal taluk.

Seminar from tomorrow

SVP Institute of Kannada Studies, Mangaluru University, will organise a two-day seminar on ‘knowledge text translation in Kannada’ from January 28.

It will discuss topics relating to agriculture related technical terms in translation, problems in translating health knowledge texts into Kannada, translation in print media and the like. Shivarama padikkal, professor, Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad will deliver the key note address.
