Visibly angry that the Member of Parliament was not invited to the inauguration of many centrally-funded schemes – such as works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Rajiv Gandhi Seva Kendras, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yogana – undertaken in the district, Nalin Kumar Kateel, warned the Executive Officers of respective taluks of “repercussions” if they continued to sideline him. Calling this a breach of protocol, Mr. Kateel said: “This is an insult to the post of MP. You have neither informed me nor invited me. Not even my name or name of the post I hold has been put on the plaque. Though I have tolerated this for long – having seen MLAs instead inaugurate the programmes — if this continues, I will see to it that none of your programmes happen.

As an MP I have the power to ensure your programmes are interrupted.”
