The Bharatiya Janata Party is expecting one lakh party workers to hear its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at Nehru Maidan here on February 18 at 3 p.m.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Pratapsimha Nayak, president, Dakshina Kannada unit of the BJP, said the rally was organised as part of the ‘Make India Win’ campaign of the party.

He said the party constituted 34 committees with 3,000 workers to organise the rally. Mr. Nayak said that as a prelude to the rally, the BJP had organised padayatras and rath yatras in eight Assembly segments in Dakshina Kannada to seek people’s support for the rally.

The rath yatra had begun in the three Assembly segments, and would start in other constituencies before the rally.

Welcoming women

Mr. Nayak said that the party workers were especially inviting women to the rally by giving them ‘kumkum’ and ‘arasina’ (turmeric powder). He said that under the ‘your voice, our manifesto’ programme of the party, the workers would meet various people in the district and issue them a form on February 14 and 15. People could write their expectation from the party in Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency in the form.

It was an attempt to get feedback from people before preparing the manifesto of the party. He said that the workers would also visit educational institutions for feedback.
