The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Mahila Morcha demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation into the attack on Director General of Administrative Training Institute V. Rashmi Mahesh.

Addressing the protestors here on Thursday, Mahila Morcha’s Vice President Pulasya Rai said the attack on IAS officer Ms. Mahesh showed the vulnerability of women to acts of assault and State Government’s reluctance to take steps to win the confidence of women.

Ms. Rai said the State Government should find persons behind the attack and also go to the root of the charges of misappropriation of funds in the ATI as pointed out by Ms. Mahesh.

While expressing the need of a CBI inquiry into the attack, the Mahila Morcha said in a memorandum that this 1996-batch officer has been transferred 13 times in the last 10 years. The State Government should come in support of such upright officers. Her report on misappropriation of funds at the ATI was among steps she has taken to clean up the system and bring transparency in administration, the Mahila Morcha said.

The memorandum was addressed to Governor Vajubhai Vala. It was handed over to the office of the Deputy Commissioner. The Mahila Morcha activists held demonstration before the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
