President of the State Youth Congress Rizwan Arshad alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the State had failed to provide unemployment allowance to the youth as promised by that party in its last election manifesto.

Addressing Youth Congress workers at a function organised at the Town Hall here to raise awareness on eye donation, he said that the BJP government did not have any policy for the welfare of the youth.

He alleged that the BJP was misusing youth power. The government had failed in implementing the Union government-sponsored welfare schemes. Mr. Arshad claimed that the State would face mid-term elections shortly as everything was not well in the BJP. There were all chances of the BJP dividing society by misguiding the youth.

Congress leader B. Janardhan Poojary asked workers to strengthen the party. District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai gave a letter to Krishnaprasad, doctor and head of Prasad Netralaya of Udupi, promising donation of eyes by 200 Youth Congress workers to the hospital.

Visually challenged Bharatanatya dancer Manjappa from Bangalore and his teacher Raksha, a dentist and Bharatanatya dancer from Bangalore, performed Bharatanatya. Congress workers raised Rs. 57,800 on the spot and handed it over to Mr. Manjappa and Dr. Raksha.
