Bisu to be observed at Pilikula Park

Come April 14, you could visit all points of attraction in Pilikula and also have a sumptuous meal on banana leaf squatting on the ground – all for Rs. 200.

The offer comes as part of the Dr. Shivarama Karanth Pilikula Nisarghadhama’s celebration of Bisu on the premises of the Guttinamane (manor house) in the park.

Executive Director of the Park Prabhakara Sharma told presspersons here on Saturday that the Rs. 200 meal coupon would enable buyers to visit the zoo, heritage village, take a boat ride (the three costing Rs. 85 for adults) and also get the plantain leaf meal. The meal would have special delicacies of the region – Anna, Moode, Gujje pallya, mango sasive, majjige huli, alasande ajadina, chinikayi kadle koddel, cucumber curry, huruli saaru, nugge-banane sambar, kosambari, kalthappa, holige, hesarubele payasa, banana podi, deegujje podu, happala, sandige among others.

Writer B.A. Viveka Rai will give a 15-minute talk on the importance of Bisu and the programme will begin at 10 a.m. with traditional placing of the ‘Bisu kani’. The meals will be available from 12.30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The coupons should be purchased on or before April 12 from Parampara outlet in Mallikatte (0824 2221299), Panambur beach, Mangaluru Stationery (Besant Complex), Pilikula Zoo counter, Vijaya Bank branches at Jyothi Circle, Hampankatta and Bendorewell. As part of the Bisu celebration, a rangoli competition has been organised and the top three winners will get prize money of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000. Participants will get 90 minutes to draw the rangoli. A condition it has to be a rangoli with dots and made using rangoli powder. Dial 9448953404 for registration.
