Officials and staff at the Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (DKMUL) on Tuesday welcomed a motorcycle rally being conducted from Kerala to Gujarat to commemorate the 96th birth anniversary of Verghese Kurien, the father of milk revolution.

A release from DKMUL here stated its Managing Director B.V. Sathyanarayana and others welcomed the rally comprising dairy farmers as riders at Mangaluru. The riders will reach Anand in Gujarat on November 26 — birth anniversary of Dr. Kurien.

Dr. Sathyanarayana recalled Dr. Kurien’s milk revolution and said he has been the guiding light for milk cooperatives in the State too. He recalled Dr. Kurien’s visit to DKMUL in 2000.

The programme started with a Yakshagana performance of Radha Krishna after which some of the riders shared their experiences.
