Amita Prasad, Director General of Abdul Nazeer Saab State Institute of Rural Development (ANSSIRD) said on Saturday that there were plans to extend the voluntary community development programmes under the Bharat Nirman Scheme to three more districts — Uttara Kannada, Hubli-Dharwad and Mysore.
She was speaking at the inaugural function of a one-day sensitisation workshop for district and taluk-level government officers and Bharat Nirman Volunteers (BNVs) organised by the ANSSIRD and Udupi Zilla Panchayat, here.
Ms. Prasad said that in the last two years, community development programmes under the scheme had been implemented in all taluks of Davangere, Udupi and Mandya districts.
Under the Bharat Nirman Scheme, as many as 3,828 volunteers had been trained in the three taluks of Udupi district. They included 2,041 in Udupi taluk, 883 in Karkala taluk and 904 in Kundapur taluk.
