The three-day ‘Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign’ began at K.R. Pet in the district on Saturday.
Union Minister for Minority Affairs K. Rahman Khan inaugurated the exhibition, while K.R. Pet Taluk Panchayat president Manjula Manjunath flagged off the Bharat Nirman rally.
Integrated package
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the exhibition, Mr. Khan said campaign was an integrated package of measures aimed at benefiting people residing in rural areas.
The campaign will share details about various flagship programmes of the State and the Union government for enabling the common man to make the best use of these schemes, the Union Minister said.
Various government departments including Agriculture, Industries, Forest, Information, Women and Child Welfare, and Watershed Development put up stalls highlighting schemes such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, National Rural Health Mission and Anna Bhagya scheme.
Hundreds of students, government officers and volunteers from various associations participated in the rally.
The Press Information Bureau, with the help of other government agencies and the Mandya district administration, has organised the campaign.
K.R. Pet MLA K.C. Narayana Gowda, Melkote MLA K.S. Puttannaiah, and Mandya Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer P.C. Jayanna were present.
