‘Banks must train SHGs'

July 27, 2011 11:43 am | Updated 11:43 am IST - MANGALORE:

Banks should evolve schemes to provide guidance through training to members of self-help groups (SHGs) so that they have a choice of various income generation activities and can earn more, said Veeraappa Moily, Union Minister for Corporate Affairs, according to a release.

Mr. Moily was speaking on Tuesday after inaugurating the zonal office of Mangalore-based public sector bank, Corporation Bank, in Mysore.

The Mysore Zonal Office of the bank controls the bank's operations in five districts of Mysore, Kodagu, Hassan, Mandya and Chamarajnagar.
