WEATHER WOES: Fishing boats anchored in Karwar port on Thursday

Fishing came to standstill in many parts of Uttara Kannada district on Thursday. Boats were seen anchored in Karwar, Tadadi, and Honnavar, and Bhatkal fisheries ports.

Although there was no warning from the Meteorological Department about any storm in the sea, strong winds kept the fishermen away from the sea since Wednesday evening. Even on Thursday evening, the fishing activity did not commence in many parts of the district.

The sea was rough and the weather worried the fishermen. This had affected the fishing activity in the coastal areas.

The fishermen, who were facing the fish drought, are reluctant to venture into the sea. Even on Thursday, the temperature was high but the conditions were overcast. There were thundershowers in some parts of the district on Wednesday night. The fishermen said they would not venture into the sea if the same climatic conditions persists on Friday.
