Ashraf case: SDPI stages protest

Members of the district unit of Social Democratic Party of India staged a dharna here on Saturday demanding immediate arrest of those involved in the murder of SDPI zonal president Mohammed Ashraf, which took place on June 21.

Abdul Rehman Malpe, general secretary of district unit of SDPI, said the State government should give adequate compensation to the family members of Ashraf. Since both the district administration and the police of Dakshina Kannada have failed to curb communal violence, Forest Minister B. Ramanath Rai should accept moral responsibility for it and resign, Mr. Malpe said.
