Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) would be opening its Common Entrance Test (CET) helpline centre for admission to professional courses for 2012-13 at the National Institute of Technology – Karnataka at Surathkal on Monday, said C. Suresh Thunga, Nodal Officer, KEA Cell.

The document verification round would be held at NIT-K centre from June 25 to July 10, he told The Hindu. Mangalore helpline centre attracts a large number of candidates from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kodagu districts, he said. However, it is not mandatory for them to visit the centre at NIT-K.

He said the helpline centre would be inaugurated at 8.30 a.m. by the acting Director of NIT-K, G. Umesh. Rajaveera Indra, Deputy Director (in-charge), Department of Pre-University Education, Dakshina Kannada, would preside over the inaugural session.

The first batch of candidates from first rank to 600 rank (ranks were applicable for all professional courses) would have to report for registration at 8 a.m. The registration for the first batch would go on up to 9 a.m. Their documents would be verified between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The second batch of candidates from 601 rank to 1,200 rank would have to report for registration at 10.15 a.m. They would be given an hour for registration. Their documents would be verified from 11.15 a.m. to 1.15 p.m. The third batch of students from rank 1,201 to 1,600 would have to report at the centre at 1 p.m. After an hour, their documents would be verified between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

The final batch of candidates for Monday from rank 1,601 to 2,000 would have to report for registration at 3.15 p.m. Their documents would be verified from 4.15 p.m. to 6.15 p.m.

Holiday

Mr. Thunga said that documents would not be verified on July 1 as it is a holiday. But documents would be verified on July 8 though it is Sunday.

The Nodal Officer said that candidates could select the courses and colleges of their choice (giving option) online from July 12 to 18.

The KEA would allot seats on July 25. Details of seat allotment would be sent to candidates through SMS to their cell numbers or to their email.

Admission round would be over by July 31. It meant that students would have to admit themselves to the courses and colleges allotted to them by July 31, Mr. Thunga said.
