The concert was organised jointly by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Sangeeta Parishath Mangalore, which had its annual general body meeting on Sunday.

Music connoisseurs, who made it to the University College auditorium braving the heavy rain on Sunday, had a treat with the soulful presentation of Carnatic music.

In the two-hour presentation, vocalist Hemmige S. Prashanth from Bangalore and the accompanists kept the audience spellbound with their traditional music presentation. The concert was organised jointly by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Sangeeta Parishath Mangalore, which had its annual general body meeting on Sunday.

Mr. Prashanth started the concert with a “keertana”. After 20 minutes of keertana, he rendered Thyagaraja's pancharatna kriti Endaro Mahanaubhavulu Anadariki Vandanamulu. B.R. Srinivas on mrudangam gave him able support.

Senior violinist T.K.V. Ramanujacharyalu was replaying the elaboration with the support of Phanindra Bhaskara on ghatam. This presentation, which showed skills of each artiste, drew appreciation from the audience.

Mr. Phanindra went for keertana Raaga Ratna … Here too there was dual presentation in the elaboration of the keertana. Mr. Phanindra's higher octane and lower octane elaborations with the support of Mr. Srinivas matched with the presentation by Mr. Ramanujacharyalu with the support of Mr. Bhaskara.

There were several occasions when Mr. Phanindra and Mr. Ramanujacharyalu appreciated each other.

Mr. Phanindra then presented the keertana Harihara Putram… followed by Ramdhirama Ramaneeya Naama.

Earlier, the Sangeeta Parishath felicitated all the four artistes. The Parishath also honoured Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's new Director Nagaveni S. Shetty.
